  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/3 cup cornstarch
  • 1 cup blueberries
  • 1 cup blackberries
  • 2 cups chopped strawberries
  • 2 cups halved dark sweet cherries
  • 2 teaspoons lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
  • Egg wash (1 large egg beaten with 1 Tablespoon milk)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the homemade pie crust according to your recipe.
  2. Mix sugar and cornstarch in a small bowl. In two separate bowls, combine blueberries and blackberries in one, strawberries and cherries in another. Add cornstarch mixture, lemon juice, and almond extract to each berry mixture.
  3. Preheat the oven to 400°F (204°C).
  4. Roll out one crust into a circle and place it in a greased 9-inch pie dish.
  5. Spoon the berry mixtures into designated sections of the crust.
  6. Roll out the second crust; cut strips for stripes and stars using a cookie cutter. Decorate the top.
  7. Brush with egg wash and sprinkle coarse sugar if desired.
  8. Bake on a baking sheet at 400°F for 20 minutes; then reduce heat to 350°F (177°C) and bake an additional 30-35 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Allow cooling completely before serving.
