  • 1 pound boneless skinless chicken breast (cubed)

  • 4 medium celery ribs (sliced)
  • 1 medium green bell pepper (diced)
  • 1 medium jalapeño (minced)
  • 4 cloves minced garlic
  • 2 teaspoons ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • 2 (15 ounce cans) great northern beans (drained)
  • 1/2 pound raw shrimp (peeled, deveined, tails removed)
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium-high heat, then add cubed chicken. Cook until browned (5–7 minutes).
  2. Add diced onion, celery, bell pepper, and jalapeño; sauté for 5 minutes until softened.
  3. Stir in minced garlic, cumin, paprika, chili powder, cayenne pepper, and flour; cook for 1–2 minutes.
  4. Gradually add chicken broth and beans; bring to simmer and cook for 10 minutes.
  5. Finally, stir in shrimp if using and heavy cream; cook for another 2–3 minutes until shrimp are pink.
