  • 1 pound extra jumbo shrimp (peeled and deveined)
  • 1/3 cup olive oil
  • 2 garlic cloves (chopped)
  • 1 teaspoon minced jalapeno
  • 2 teaspoons brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 teaspoons tequila (optional)
  • thin slices of fresh lime
  • chopped cilantro
  • wedges of fresh lime

Instructions

  1. Soak wooden skewers in water for 30 minutes (if using).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine olive oil, garlic, jalapeno, brown sugar, spices, and tequila. Blend until smooth.
  3. Marinate the shrimp in the mixture for 2-3 hours in the refrigerator.
  4. Preheat the grill to medium-high heat.
  5. Thread marinated shrimp onto skewers (optional) and grill for 3-4 minutes on each side until opaque.
  6. Serve on a platter with lime wedges and cilantro.
