  • 1 lb top sirloin steak (sliced against the grain)
  • 1 red bell pepper (diced)
  • 1/2 large yellow onion (sliced)
  • 1 cup matchstick carrots
  • 1 cup fresh Thai basil leaves
  • 3 Tbsp low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp fish sauce
  • 1 Tbsp Sambal Oelek (optional)
  • Jasmine or long-grain white rice for serving

Instructions

  1. Cook rice according to package instructions.
  2. Whisk together soy sauce and cornstarch in a bowl; add water, fish sauce, oyster sauce, brown sugar, lime juice, and Sambal Oelek.
  3. Toss beef with oil and cornstarch; cook in a hot skillet until browned but slightly undercooked. Remove from skillet.
  4. Sauté bell pepper, onion, and garlic in the same skillet until crisp-tender; add carrots and pour in the sauce mixture.
  5. Return beef to skillet with basil; stir until heated through and basil wilts.
  6. Serve over rice garnished with additional basil.
