  • 34 tablespoons tomato paste

  • 1 (28-ounce) can tomato sauce
  • 2 (15-ounce) cans red kidney beans (drained)
  • 2 cups broth (beef or chicken)
  • 1 teaspoon salt (plus more to taste)
  • 1 tablespoon cumin
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 2 tablespoons sugar

Instructions

  1. In a Dutch oven over medium-high heat, cook chopped turkey bacon until golden. Remove and reserve grease.
  2. In the same pot, brown ground beef seasoned with salt and pepper; remove once cooked.
  3. Sauté diced onions in remaining grease until soft. Add spices and tomato paste; stir for 1-2 minutes.
  4. Incorporate diced tomatoes and tomato sauce; bring to simmer.
  5. Return beef and turkey bacon to the pot; add kidney beans and broth.
  6. Simmer for 15-20 minutes; adjust seasoning as needed.
